Agriculture Collective: Ensuring Food Security and Gender Equality
The Agriculture Collective is a collaborative effort funded by the Republic of Slovenia Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with advisory support from Slovenian nonprofit Forum for Equitable Development and local organization VEDCO. The program focuses on sustainable agricultural practices that address food security and gender equality in the Ndejje and Kampala regions. The goal is to empower local and refugee communities by providing access to resources, education, and support for food production, climate resilience, and gender equality.
The Agriculture Collective works toward sustainable food systems while promoting gender equality. Through agricultural education, the project enhances the capacity of communities to mitigate and adapt to climate change. In addition to food production, it focuses on eliminating violence against women and girls, raising awareness on environmental sustainability, and improving access to clean drinking water.
“When you look at how we live, you will find that our minds are locked, and that is why you see our youth wanting to go abroad to end up in slavery.“
